AIYS Yemeni Fellowships 2018


The AIYS organized a seminar In Ṣan‘ā’ on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 for the recipients of AIYS Fellowships granted for 2018.  Twelve researchers in different fields received an AIYS Yemeni Fellowship this year. Several researchers and academics attended the seminar in which nine researchers made brief presentation about their proposed researches.

These researchers are:

(1) Dr  Rajha Saad, an  assistant professor in the Library Section at Ṣan‘ā’ University. Her research topic is: “Information Literacy for Displaced People by War in Yemen: A Pilot Study.”

(2) Dr Khaled Naji, an associate professor of Biochemistry, Chemistry department, Faculty of Science, Ṣan‘ā’ University. His research topic is: “Preventive Effects of Wild Yemeni Monolluma quadrangula Extract on Oxidative Stress associated with Diabetes mellitus in Albino Male Rats.”


(3) Taha Arrahomi, whose research is: “Role of Monetary Authority in Controlling Money Laundry in Republic of Yemen.”

(4) Dr Fowad Al-Mikhlafi, an associate professor in the Center of Researches, Legal Consultancies and Arbitration. His research  topic is: “Internal Displacement in Yemen: Challenges and  Scope of International Response.”

(5) Guzlan Hatem, with research on “Educating Guidelines  for Training and Aiding Disabled Girls in the Yemeni Countryside.”

(6) Wafaa Al-Qadassi, with research on:  “Recent Benthic foraminifera from Socotra Island: Systemic Classification and Environment.”

(7) Dr. Abdulghani  Al-Haweri, with research on:  “Planning for Establishing Crisis & Disasters Managing Unit in the Ministry of Education in View of International Experiences.”

(8) Dr. Mujib Al-Shamiri, an assistant professor of the Media Department, Ṣan‘ā’ University, with research on:  “Yemeni-Targeted Audience’s Correlation With TV Domestic Drama and How that Contributes Toward Understanding Social Reality.”

(9) Adhm Nojem, with research on: “Meaningful Signs of Geometrical and Botanic Decorations Depicted on Bulls’ Heads in the Ancient Yemeni Carvings.”


At the end of the function the allocated financial grant was handed over to every researcher. Two of the recipients are from Ḥaḍramawt province; thus, we are going to coordinate with them to make presentation about their researchers via Skype, after which the grant will be delivered to them.

The AIYS wishes the researchers all the best in their studies amid these very tough circumstances in Yemen.
